Charles "Charlie" Elwood Stokes

Charles “Charlie” Elwood Stokes of Elkton, Kentucky went to be with our Lord and Savior on September 26, 2016 while surrounded by his loving family. He was escorted to the doors of heaven, hand in hand, by his wife Dorothy and daughter Jennifer.

Charlie was born October 8, 1951 in Hopkinsville, KY the son of the late Dorris and Ruby Newcomb Stokes. Aside from a few years spent in Washington, the majority of his life was spent in Elkton, Kentucky and Clarksville, Tennessee. He had a long career in commercial construction and had a love of antiques, often restoring old furniture or working on older cars. Charlie attended Trenton Assembly of God and found it to be his happy place, as He grew older and closer to God.

(Papa) Charlie is survived by the love of his life, Dorothy Stokes of Elkton, Kentucky. They were married for 42 wonderful years. He leaves behind two daughters; Jennifer Alston (Joe) of Clarksville, Tennessee and Tina Williams (Billy Joe) of Elkton, Kentucky; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. His is a lasting legacy! He is also survived by two loving sisters; Debbie Plaster (Don) of Clarksville, Tennessee and Jackie Benton (Doug) of Midway, Georgia and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Velma Parsons Dennis of Clarksville, Tennessee.

There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 11:00 at the Trenton Assembly of God with Rev. Mike Dorsey officiating.
