David "Big D" Stokes

Mr. David Stokes “Big D”, age 72 of Elkton, passed away on Saturday evening, December 4, 2016 at the Logan Memorial Hospital in Russellville of natural causes.

He was born February 19, 1944 in Todd County, Kentucky the son of the late Lucian Edward and Lillie Nora Smith Stokes.  He was a member of the Stokes Chapel Church.  He loved his family, grilling, music, truck pulls and his dog Bailey.  He was the former owner of Big D’s Auto Sales and Storage and Stokes Trucking in Fairview.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as one daughter Lori Ann Stokes Teague and one brother Norris Stokes.  He is survived by his wife Sylvia Latham Stokes of Elkton; one son Billy Stokes of Elkton; one daughter Donna Stokes of Elkton; three brothers Phil Stokes of Elkton, Ricky Stokes of Clarksville, Tennessee and Charles Stokes of Springfield, Tennessee; two sisters Margaret Lack of Bowling Green and Sue Powell of Elkton.  Also surviving are three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Visitation with the Stokes family will be on Monday evening from 4:00 until 8:00 at the Todd County Funeral Home.  Funeral service is scheduled to be conducted on Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 in the Rose Chapel of the Todd County Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Chapman officiating.  Interment will follow at the Stokes Family Cemetery on Lack Road in Elkton.
