Hugh Sterling Harris

Mr. Hugh Sterling Harris, age 91 of Elkton, passed away on Sunday morning, May 15, 2016 at his home of natural causes.

 

Mr. Harris was born February 9, 1925 in Daviess County, Kentucky the son of the late Fred and Elizabeth Midkiff Harris.  He was a member of St. Susan Catholic Church in Elkton.  He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of WWII where he was a prisoner of war.  He loved watching Western’s, doing mechanic work and sitting on his porch enjoying nature and watching those who passed by.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his wife Hazel Harris (2004); five brothers Wilbur, Albert, James, Roy and Robert Harris; two sisters Mary Knott and Beatrice Wedding and one grandson Edward Casper.  He is survived by five daughters Carolyn Davis of Vincennes, Indiana, Wanda Boling of New Washington, Indiana, Gail Settle, Cleda Eggers and Marilyn Jones all of Elkton; one brother Don Harris of Texas; twenty-five grandchildren, sixteen step grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

 

Visitation with the Harris family will be on Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 at the Todd County Funeral Home.  Funeral service is scheduled to be conducted on Wednesday morning at 11:00 at St. Susan Catholic Church in Elkton with Father Frank Ruff officiating.  Interment will follow at the Cedar Grove Church Cemetery.
