James T. Steeley

Mr. James “Jim” “D-Daddy” Steeley, age 72 of Guthrie, passed away on Sunday morning December 29^th at 3:17 at the VA Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee of natural causes.

James was born October 4, 1942 in Clarksville, Tennessee the son of the late Clyde and Katie Harris Steeley.  He was a member of the Guthrie Church of Christ and served in the United States Army where he was a Vietnam Veteran.  He loved his family, landscaping and enjoyed helping others.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as two sons Kenny Waldrop and James T. Steeley Jr. and one daughter Missy Powers.  He is survived by his wife Dorothy Steeley of Guthrie; two daughters Tina Emberton (Dewayne) of Clarksville and Connie Taylor of Guthrie; three brothers Terry Steeley of South Carolina, Tommy Steeley of Clarksville and Eugene Steeley of Hopkinsville; three sisters Altia Taylor of Guthrie, Evelyn Holt of Bumpus Mills, Tennessee and Mary Ann Woodford of Indiana; seven grandchildren Matt Dyce (Alyssa), Courtney Cox, Tabitha Taylor, Brandon Powers, Jake Emberton, Mika Taylor (son of Mike Taylor) and Charlsie Powers and two great grandchildren Ella and Emory Powers.

Visitation with the Steeley family will be on Friday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 and again on Saturday afternoon from 12:00 until funeral service time at 2:00 at the Guthrie Church of Christ in Guthrie.  Funeral services are scheduled to be conducted on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 at the Guthrie Church of Christ in Guthrie with Eddie Glenn officiating.  Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Guthrie.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Guthrie Church of Christ in memory of James Steeley.
