Thomas J. Shanklin

Mr. Thomas “Tom” Shanklin, age 80 of Elkton, passed away on Monday morning July 20^th at his home of natural causes.

He was born May 8, 1935 in Todd County, Kentucky the son of the late Terry Jackson and Nonnie Latham Shanklin.  He retired from the United States Army where he fought in the Korean & Vietnam wars.  He was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Elkton as well as a charter member of the Todd County Coon Hunters Club, the Todd County Fish & Game Club, VFW & American Legion.  He loved coon hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his wife Wenda Shanklin.  He is survived by his son Thomas J. Shanklin II of Elkton; two daughters Rhonda Shanklin Powell of Elkton and Donna Shanklin of Cullman, Alabama; four grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Visitation with the Shanklin family will be on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 at the Todd County Funeral Home.  Funeral service is scheduled to be conducted on Thursday at 12:00 in the Rose Chapel of the Todd County Funeral Home with Jonathan Hadden officiating.  Interment will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Todd County Fish & Game Club or American Veterans Service.
