William Mitchell Dawson

Mr. William “Mitchell” Dawson, age 87 of the Honey Grove community, passed away on Saturday evening November 29^th at 11:10 at his home of natural causes.

Mitchell was born February 6, 1927 in Edwardsville, Illinois the son of the late Guy Taylor and Mabel Mitchell Dawson Sr.  He served in the United States Army.  He was a charter member and deacon of Lakeview Baptist Church, a member of the Honey Grove Fire Department and Woodmen of the World.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as four brothers Guy Taylor Jr., John Lloyd, James Robert and George Thomas Dawson.  He is survived by his wife of 54 years Susie Dawson of Honey Grove; one son Baron Dawson (Debbie) of Louisville; two daughters Vicki Mitchell (Roonie) and Regina Dawson all of Honey Grove; two sisters Della Barkman of Florida and Francis Nizza (Tony) of New York; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Visitation with the Dawson family will be on Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 8:00 at the Lakeview Baptist Church.  Funeral services are scheduled to be conducted on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 at the Lakeview Baptist Church 2755 Vaughn’s Grove - Fairview Road, Pembroke, KY 42266 with Rev. Leroy Crouch officiating.  Interment will follow at the Ebenezer Church Cemetery in Hopkinsville.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Gideon’s or to Ebenezer Church Cemetery c/o Pam Long 6100 Butler Road Elkton, Kentucky 42220.
