John David Capps, 85, of Huntsville, Alabama and formerly of Trenton, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 19, 2019.
John was a graduate of Pembroke High School and Austin Peay State University. He served in the U.S. Army and subsequently worked for NASA. During his 33-year career with NASA, he was awarded both the Exceptional Achievement Medal and Exceptional Service Medal. He was a member of the Hubble Space Telescope team and the Mars Lander team.
John served as deacon for many years in Lincoln Baptist Church and Heritage Baptist Church in Huntsville, AL and Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Trenton, KY. Most recently, he was a member of Whitesburg Baptist Church in Huntsville.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Linda Glover Capps; daughters Denise Corr (Ken) and Debra Fluker (Tom); son Charles Capps (Nancy); grandchildren Zachary Corr (Angela), Kate Fluker, Rachel Nager (Chris), Susan Bowermaster (Shane), Caleb Fluker (Rachel), Caroline Corr, Eliza Capps, Charlotte Corr, Hannah Fluker and Benjamin Capps; three great-grandchildren and his beloved dog Hubble.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 26th from 12:00 until funeral service time at 2:00 at the Trenton Baptist Church in Trenton, KY. Interment will follow at the Edgewood Cemetery in Trenton, KY.
