Ricky Brooks Obituary

Ricky Donell Brooks, age 59 of Elkton, passed away on Wednesday, July 8th at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville of natural causes.

He was born January 12, 1961 in Indianapolis, Indiana the son of Anna Lois Sebree.

At an early age Ricky accepted Christ as his Savior at Mt. Zion CME Church in Elkton.  Later in life as a man he rededicated his life to Christ at the First Missionary Baptist Church in Elkton where he then sang in the male choir.

His first job at a young age was delivering newspapers for the Kentucky New Era and as a teenager he worked for the Frogue Farm for more than twenty years.  He went on to work for Ricchuite Enterprises and then he ended his work career with Todd County Funeral Home where he worked on the maintenance and grave service crew.  He was certainly a jack of all trades.

He found the love for sports at a young age playing softball and football.  He was a fan of the Washington Redskins, loved the Kentucky Wildcats and Nascar driver Dale Earnhart.  Dominoes and corn hole were a favorite weekend family and friend’s pastime and he was the best that ever did it.

He is survived by his mother Anna Lois Sebree of Elkton; his son Cody Bailey of Elkton; six sisters Vaginus “Jean” Johnson of Indianapolis, Indiana, Kim Gardner (Kenneth) of Elkton, Machell Dowlen (Ronnie) of Trenton, Stephanie Sebree of Elkton, LaVanda “Franchell” Fields (Michael) of New York and Felicia “Fefe” Bell (Dorian) of North Carolina; two honorary brothers Thomas Hayden and Gregory Jessup both of Indianapolis, Indiana and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday from 11:00 until funeral service time at 1:00 in the Rose Chapel of the Todd County Funeral Home with Spencer Osborne officiating. Interment will follow at the Elkton-Glenwood Cemetery.
