Mr. Novice Martin, age 83 of Elkton, passed away on Wednesday afternoon April 29th at his home of natural causes.
Mr. Martin was born September 14, 1931 in Todd County, Kentucky the son of the late Claude E. and Lina Hadden Martin. He served in the United States Army and was a retired Funeral Director & Embalmer. He was a 1967 graduate of the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science. He was former owner of Martin Funeral Home. Mr. Martin began his career in funeral service at Booker Funeral Home in Franklin, Kentucky then served at the Sanders Funeral Home in Russellville, Kentucky until opening the Martin Funeral Home in Elkton in 1973. He loved his family, funeral service and the Todd County community. He was a member of Petrie United Methodist Church. He was a past president of the Elkton Rotary Club and the Todd County Chamber of Commerce. Also was a member of the Vesper Lodge #71 F&AM.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as one brother Caldwell Martin and two sisters Opal Martin Dick and Alma Martin Morrison. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Izeta Martin of Elkton; one son Robert Martin of Hopkinsville; one daughter Doris Martin Kelly of Guthrie. Also surviving is one granddaughter Jamie Kelly of Guthrie.
Visitation with the Martin family will be on Friday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 at the Todd County Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled to be conducted on Saturday morning at 11:00 in the Rose Chapel of the Todd County Funeral Home with Dr. Ted Beam and Shane Hessey officiating. Interment will follow at the Glenwood Cemetery in Elkton.
